As mentioned before, The processor, or central processing unit, is what I feel the most important part of the PC. It will control the raw speed of the machine, and how fast it can carry out calculations etc. It controls virtually everything that happens in the game. This is why I think I need to spend a substantial amount of money on it, to ensure I get the best possible PC. The next decision I had to make was the brand, with two dominating the market. These were Intel, and AMD. I have decided to go for an Intel chip, based on its higher power output and performance.
As seen from this benchmark test, the Intel core chips out- perform the AMD ones in every case, producing a far higher FPS rate. I feel this test made my decision even easier, as Frames Per Second are crucial for any game, as it controls the flow of the game. The higher the FPS, the smoother the game will ultimately run!
The processor I have chosen is a " - Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) l- Retail" which I feel is at the higher end of the spectrum. The quad core means it has plenty of power, and will not over heat as quick as a dual core processor. The reason why I didn't choose the newer Haswell processors is because of their far higher cost, and I don't think they will serve me much benefit. If the processor speed isn't quite good enough for my needs, I can easily over-clock it, unleashing the full potential of this amazing machine.
